The temporary venue, in the grounds of the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, will also host Paralympic archery events before sections of it are transported to Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Woolwich residents had their first look inside during a guided tour last week.

Its strange design ? brightly coloured circular openings are dotted over the structures to ?help create tension and provide natural ventilation and light? ? caused controversy, with one local describing it as ?like something out of Teletubbies?.

The venue, which includes three enclosed ranges for pistol and rifle shooting and three open-air shotgun ranges for Trap and Skeet events, will be tested for the first time at the ISSF Shooting World Cup on 17 April.
