Purbeck Shooting School in Dorset, one of the leading clay target shooting schools in the country, has been selected by the Disabled Shooting Project (DSP) as the venue for its inaugural South West Regional Conference to be held in March 2013.
The DSP is funded and supported by Sport England via British Shooting. In clay target shooting the Project works closely with the Disabled Shooters Group, and it is anticipated that Purbeck will become a venue for their shoots.
If the current initiative to introduce clay target as a new Paralympic discipline in 2016 is successful, the School may well become a training base for aspiring Paralympians in the region.
Commenting on the development, Graham Brown, Senior Instructor and Managing Director of Purbeck Shooting School, said: ‘The school regularly hosts events of this kind for the disabled and we are honoured to be appointed to support The Disabled Shooting Project and look forward to helping the project team deliver shooting for the disabled of the highest quality in the fine surroundings of Dorset and the historic Jurassic coastline.”
As part of its Disabled Shooting Year programme, the DSP is organising six regional conferences for clubs, shooting grounds, disability organisations and individuals who would like to find out more about all aspects of disabled shooting and its opportunities.
