Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds hosted a group of keen Shots for the Race Against Dementia charity clay day in September.

The Race Against Dementia charity was founded by motor ace and clay shooting international Sir Jackie Stewart, whose wife Helen was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia a few years ago.

On learning of his wife’s diagnosis, Sir Jackie was horrified to learn that there is currently no cure for dementia. He has subsequently devoted much of his time to fundraising scientific research into dementia and its various forms.

Event highlights included an exclusive car exhibition, exhilarating shooting competitions, a charity auction and a gourmet lunch. The event raised around £100,000, including a £1,000 contribution from Fieldsports Press, presented to Sir Jackie by former ST Editor Patrick Galbraith.

Other participants included Karl Waktare, managing director of GMK and the Beretta Gallery, who described the shoot day as excellent. “Holland’s team put on a fantastic day,” he remarked.
