Royal Mail will consult on postal gun ban – again

Royal Mail has announced that it will launch a one-month public consultation at the end of January on its proposals for the carriage of Section 1 and 2 firearms (including relevant shotguns and rifles) and some Section 1 components (for example, barrels, chambers, cylinders, breeches, blocks and bolts).

Last December, Royal Mail announced that low-powered airguns, their components and accessories, imitation, antique and deactivated firearms would continue to be carried in the post after it abandoned its plans to ban the carriage of all such items.

Royal Mail also confirmed that as of 14 January 2013 it allowed the carriage of airgun and airsoft pellets in the post.
