New coins will be entering circulation at the end of 2023 to mark the new reign of King Charles III and celebrate his passion for conservation. Several of the new designs feature threatened British species and are the focus of research being carried out by the GWCT. The new coins include the hazel dormouse (1p), the red squirrel (2p), the capercaillie (10p), the puffin (20p) and the Atlantic salmon (50p); each of which has suffered serious declines in the past few decades.
