Find out more.Head of the RSPB investigations team Bob Elliot gave the keynote speech at the League Against Cruel Sports’ anti-shooting “Gunning For Change” symposium at Westminster on 25 April — even though the RSPB’s charter states that it “shall take no part in the question of the killing of gamebirds”.
Mr Elliot said: “The RSPB adopts a neutral position on legitimate gameshooting, unless it poses a threat to a species of conservation concern.
“We are increasingly concerned about the levels of persecution that happens alongside legalised fieldsports in some locations. This prosecution is affecting the populations of species such as hen harrier and golden eagle.
