Members of the infamous Stockport Monitors, reportedly commanded by convicted criminal – Paul Allman, and bomb-maker – David Blenkinsopp, attacked a spring meeting of the Wynnstay Hunt.
Hunt stewards at a meet in Threapwood were confronted by a masked group of around 16 individuals allegedly wielding hammers, machetes, axes and shovels.
The masked individuals attempted to physically block the steward’s vehicles from leaving their location using their own cars as barriers. The stewards were forced to retreat and reported directly to Wrexham police station.
Witnesses identified these masked individuals as being part of the Stockport Monitors. The same group of saboteurs continued to cause trouble by trying to run hunt followers off the road and by blocking vehicles and horse boxes. The Cheshire Police Rural Crime Officer was present and called in armed response police officers and air support. Several arrests were made.
A Wynnstay Hunt Spokesperson said: “These sorts of incidents cannot be tolerated nor can the activities of so-called ‘hunt monitors’ be allowed to continue without scrutiny and challenge. Their aggravated trespass and false and libellous social media posts have now proved just how dangerous the results can be.”
