Scottish gun and fishing tackle shops have been impacted by a licensing scheme introduced in 2010 which restricts the sale of knives, according to BASC Scotland.

Under the scheme, shops must meet strict criteria to sell hunting and fishing knives in rural areas, while kitchen and domestic knives remain unregulated.

The director of BASC Scotland, Dr Colin Shedden, said trade members want the licensing scheme scrapped.
