The most recent map of bird of prey poisoning locations in Scotland has been released by the Government body Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA). It shows a sharp drop both in incidents and numbers of birds killed and has been welcomed by politicians, gamekeeping organisations and landowners.
The map shows that in 2011, there were 10 incidents of confirmed bird of prey poisonings reported to the SASA, involving 16 birds. The figures compare favourably with 2010, when 22 incidents were reported and 28 birds poisoned, and came in advance of the recently-introduced law of ?vicarious liability? which makes landowners liable for bird of prey persecution by their employees.
