Scottish raptor poisonings decline

The number of illegal bird of prey poisonings has fallen significantly in Scotland, according to the latest maps and figures released by Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime (PAW) Scotland.
The maps, which were compiled using data held by Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture, show the number and general location of confirmed poisonings in 2012 and cumulative figures for 2008 to 2012.
Three poisoning incidents were recorded in 2012, resulting in the deaths of two buzzards and a golden eagle, compared with 10 incidents and 16 birds of prey poisoned in 2011.
