<strong>Four top shooters are awarded elite sports funding</strong>
British Shooting has announced the latest athletes to be awarded with a place on the World Class Performance Programme. Abbey Burton, Edward Ling, Matthew Thomson and Steven Scott are to join seven other shooters signed up to UK Sport’s National Lottery-backed Performance Programme, which will provide support for their Olympic campaign through a range of services.
The scheme has been in place since 1997 and the gold medal of Peter Wilson at London 2012 has helped to secure the funding for Rio 2016. The scheme commences on 1 April in the year immediately following a Games and lasts for a period of four years.
