Shooting Times available to all?

Restrictions on the purchase of some shooting magazines by children in WHSmith stores appear to be easing, following a concerted campaign by the shooting community.

Readers of Shooting Times, who previously needed authorisation from a member of staff to buy their weekly read at self-service tills, have told us that ?till prompts? are no longer appearing on screen.

However, WHSmith refused to confirm that the restrictions were being lifted. A spokesperson said: ?We have a till prompt system in place that encompasses a small number of these titles, which has been in place for many years and has never previously generated any complaints from customers.

?This system was introduced due to certain ?cover mounts? on a selected number of magazines. These till prompts do not, however, affect the majority of the shooting titles that we currently sell.

?We do not intend to make any further comment on this matter.?
