The event, held at Lancing College, was designed to give the youngsters a taste of what country sports can offer.

The children were able to learn about gundog training, ferreting and long netting, falconry and fly fishing, as well as shooting.

Jenni Thompson from BASC said: “The enthusiasm and attentiveness youngsters have for rural pursuits never fails to amaze me; come rain or shine they go home having learnt a lot, and with great happy and fun memories.

“These days are a great opportunity to help educate the young about the countryside, and I would encourage more schools and people to get involved by hosting or attending similar events.”
