Sporting Gun Magazine was brought to life with a host of sporting features in one spectacular event held at the weekend of the 11th/12th of August 2007 at Althorp, Northamptonshire.

This exciting event was the first of its kind and looks set to be a permanent feature in the country sports and shooting calender.

Appealing to all shooters and their families, the magazine hosted many interactive demonstrations and sporting features that involved many of the famous names found in Sporting Gun each month, plus many more.

In addition to top displays in the main arena by Ye Olde Redtail Falconry, Adams Axemen, and more, the Sporting Gun live forum saw expert gundog trainers, gamekeepers, shooting instructors, gunsmiths, pigeon shooters, stalkers, wildfowlers and game shooters sharing their knowledge with show goers.

They were also on hand to help newcomers get started in shooting.

Central to the theme of the Sporting Gun Show is greater participation. There were plenty of opportunities to have-a-go at something new, or get expert tuition from the world’s greats. Many activities were aimed at youngsters, and hopefully we gave the superstars of tomorrow their first taste of country sports.

From specialist demonstrations in the Country Arena to the opportunity to try your hand at clay shooting, to crafts, music and exhibitions, there was definitely something for everyone.

The Sporting Gun Show is the only show where you are guaranteed to learn something new, with interactive displays and friendly, experienced staff to impart their knowledge. Superb trade stands offered everything for the field sportsman. Other outstanding show features included the Casablanca Steps entertainment area, demonstrations from yester-year with the Bodger and Rope Worker and Magic n’ Mayhem to keep the children entertained.
