I have been threatening to try a moderated shotgun for a couple of years now, but I am not sure I could suffer the frustration of going right down to a .410.
Sometimes I have enough trouble hitting the damn things with a 12-bore!
More and more these days, I find myself shooting in quite sensitive areas near houses where the noise of my actions can be a real problem with the sort of people who are moving into the countryside.
Even if I could cut the noise by 30% it would have real benefits, with the added bonus of not disturbing the flight lines so much.
But until someone comes up with a decent quality 12-bore that retains some semblance of balance, but reduces the noise significantly, I guess my cash stays in my pocket.
