How many pigeon poles do you go through each year? I bend and break no-end of them and I'm still searching for a really sturdy set that won't let me down. Which makes can you recommend?
Pigeon shooting
PETER THEOBALD says:
Most modern pigeon shooting equipment is built for lightness rather than strength, which means you have to look after it a bit more.
The best poles I ever had were made by the local blacksmith 30 years ago, and whilst they were fully adjustable and virtually indestructible, they weighed an absolute ton.
The ones I use these days are produced by Shootwarehouse, and have a neat twist lock system to secure the extending bit plus a sturdy kicker on the end.
However, as tough as they are, they will not allow you to bash them into hard ground with a hammer. They retail at about a tenner each.
