True, they keep your feet dry, but a problem common to all wellies is that they can be cold to wear, particularly when standing still for long periods at a peg or crouched in a hide.

Easy to get on and off, the boot grips the foot nicely and they’re flexible, reasonably light with instep reinforcement and a waterproof gusset complete with tightening band.

They’ve proved comfortable to wear and the cleated sole has done well on slippery ground. I don’t usually wear wellies these days because you can end up paying a fortune only to then ruin them on the first bit of barbed wire you come to.

These, however, have proved tough enough in the field and they are more sensibly priced – a big advantage when subjected to the rough wear and tear of everyday country life.
