Are shell decoys worth using for pigeon shooting? I got a set of 12 as a present at Christmas but don't enjoy the same success as I do with my usual full-bodied deeks. How do you use yours?
PIGEON SHOOTING
Peter Theobald
Full bodied decoys obviously look more realistic from our perspective i.e at ground level, but from a pigeon’s point of view, from above, shells are just as effective.
They also take up less space in your bag, and are noticeably lighter.
The random pattern I create, is the same, whatever type of decoy I may be using.
Provided that pattern is placed where the pigeons expect to see it, I really don’t think it matters what type of decoy you use.
