Figures about the impact of grouse shooting on a Scotlands' rural economy are being updated with a new survey.
The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust and the University of Strathclyde are currently undertaking a new survey to investigate the economic impact of grouse moor management on Scotlands rural economy. Previous figures revealed that grouse moor management contributed £17million to the Scottish economy and sustained around 1,000 full-time jobs.
The GWCTs Dr Adam Smith said: As the last survey was carried out in 2000, it is essential to update previous figures in order to inform Scottish Government policy accurately in 2010. We believe investment in grouse management in Scotland has increased substantially since these figures were compiled and it is therefore important to quantify the value of private investment in heather hills.
