Where can I find rifle shooting tuition?

SHOOTING
GEORGE WALLACE says:
A number of people offer training in the accurate use of the rifle, but before booking it is important to make sure they offer what you need.

I have a couple of acquaintances who have been on such courses – no names, no pack drill – and said they were just the job if you wanted to shoot a Taliban off a distant mountain.

They said that most of the teaching was of little interest to an ordinary sporting rifle user.

You want something more appropriate to the ranges at which we normally shoot and the awkward positions we sometimes have to adopt in order to get a shot.

I no longer run such courses but my old friend, David Stretton, does.

David lives on the Leicestershire / Derbyshire border and can be contacted at High Barn Farm, Isley Walton, Castle Donington, Derby DE74 2RL or by telephone on 01332 810757.

The booklet which accompanies the training course is also excellent and will remind you of the basics when, as inevitably happens a year or two later, you find you are not shooting as well as you would like.

There are no doubt other suitable training courses available – but I don’t know enough about any of them to be able to recommend them.
