An old boy in the village tells me you shouldn’t handle ferrets too regularly because it makes them tame and less likely to work. Is he right?
FERRETING
Edward Cook
Well, all I can say is that the chap near you is simply the village idiot and should be ignored at all costs!
Working with ferrets that bite isn’t fun and is simply unnecessary – if your ferrets are spiteful in any way then all it shows is that you have no skills with animals.
When I reach down after digging to retrieve a rabbit I trust all my ferrets to not latch on to me.
The tamer the ferret the better say I, so handle them gently and daily from an early age.
