The Heather Trust has announced the appointment of a new President.
Having served on the Trust’s Board for many years, Professor Rob Marrs has succeeded Professor Charles Gimingham as the second President of the Trust.
Professor Marrs, who is the Principal of the School of Biological Sciences at Liverpool University and a leading expert on upland ecology, said “I am delighted to accept the appointment as the second President of The Heather Trust. It is a great honour to follow in the footsteps of Professor Charles Gimingham, who is rightly acknowledged as the foremost world authority on heather and moorland science. The Heather Trust’s independent role throughout the UK and level-headed, balanced approach to the often heated debates on moorland issues is of immense value.”
