Most modern pigeon shooting equipment is built for lightness rather than strength, which means you have to look after it a bit more.
The best poles I ever had were made by the local blacksmith 30 years ago, and whilst they were fully adjustable and virtually indestructible, they weighed a ton.
The ones I use these days are produced by Shootwarehouse, and have a neat twist lock system to secure the extending bit plus a sturdy kicker on the end.
But, as tough as they are, they will not allow you to bash them into hard ground with a hammer.
They cost about 10 quid each.
