Nick Beavis wins sixth BASC .410 world title

Staffordshire shooter claims sixth world championship

Nick Beavis has claimed a sixth BASC .410 World Championship title, adding to previous victories in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. This time, he did it on home turf, being based in Staffordshire, where the championships were held for the first time this year.

More than 100 competitors travelled to Oakedge Shooting Ground for the 2026 championships, which had previously been staged at Welsh venues including Dovey Valley Shooting Ground and Fauxdegla International Clay Shooting Centre. Oakedge sits in parkland on the edge of Cannock Chase and has previously hosted the British Open Sporting Clays Championship.

Challenging course tests competitors

The new venue served up a varied course ranging from tight technical targets to extreme clays. Organisers reported a healthy mix of new faces alongside experienced regulars.

Speaking after his victory, Mr Beavis said: “It’s been a great competition and it was fantastic to see so many new competitors. I’m over the moon to take the title again and would like to thank BASC, the sponsors and the ground for all their hard work putting on the event.”

Shooting and gamekeeping career

Mr Beavis has been a gamekeeper at Checkley Wood Shoot, Staffordshire, since he left school and became a director in 2022. He has been shooting since the age of seven, and began competing on clays at 30.
