Why is it just about every rabbit in a burrow always seems to find the same unnetted hole?
Sometimes I think they check the exit before bolting ? yet I always thought rabbits couldn?t see the mesh of a purse net against the sky?
RABBITING
Edward Cook
Rabbits are greatly underestimated, a species I actually have a lot of respect for!
These ?pop? holes you talk about are designed for exactly that reason – to be effective they need to go unnoticed yet big enough to allow a fast exit.
I doubt very much that rabbits can see the mesh of a purse net when they vacate a hole, and even if they could I doubt they would consider it a threat.
My advice would be to either get yourself a lurcher to catch these escapees, or learn to use a longnet.
