GUN DOGS Tests and trials: I am entering my gun dogs in open working tests. Will any wins qualify my gun dogs for entering field trials later on?
GUN DOGS
Paul Rawlings
Gundog working test awards do not qualify a dog for preference in the draw for any field trials at whatever level.
Gundog working tests are competitions in their own right.
While many are run as simulations of a shooting day or a field trial, they are contested using dummies or cold game.
Winning a working test does not, therefore, qualify a dog in any way, other than for preference in draws for other gundog working tests that ask for such.
To gain preference in the draw for an open field trial the dog must have gained the required award (or awards) in field trial competitions only.
Will wins qualify my gun dogs for entering field trials later on
