Record wildfire prompts Scottish U-turn on muirburn licensing

If you want to do your bit to support the future of British gunmaking – and indulge yourself, or somebody else, then get bidding.
The lots involved include dinner chez vous by Albert Roux OBE Legion D’Honneur, served by the the Chairman of the Gunmakers Charitable Trust, Lord Sharman OBE and a visit to Aya’s factory in Spain as part of their centenary celebrations.
Two other trips abroad are also up for auction; one in Italy at the Rizzini Factory including accommodation and travel, and the other a shoot in Atlanta, USA, pursuing the elusive Bobwhite Quail.
Other luminaries of the shooting world are involved too, such as Holland and Holland who are offering a guided factory tour and a shoot. Holts auctioneers have offered a week long apprenticeship whilst Richard Purdey will be hosting four people on an exclusive day at their West London factory.
A morning or evening’s deer stalking is also available. Lady’s Wood shooting ground are offering a VIP shooting day as is E J Churchill. Grouse and pheasant shoot days are on offer as well.
Other lots in the auction include: a bespoke shooting suit, an 8 peg shooting straw, tickets to watch Wales vs Australia at the upcoming Rugby World Cup, an oil painting by Lynne Moore and a number of wine related prizes.
The Gunmakers Charitable Trust was specifically developed to raise funds to benefit its successful bursary support program, which supports apprentice gunmakers and encourages the gun trade to take on more apprentices to be trained in the craft of gunmaking in Britain, which has been a centre of excellence in the craft for well over two centuries.
The online auction will run until 16 September, when a live auction will take place, following a VIP Clay Shoot at Holland & Holland. You can make your bids here.
