Find out moreOver the past 12 months, the BASC wildfowling team has worked with 17 clubs in England and five in Wales to secure the continuation of sporting rights, leases and consents on a total of 24 sites.
Some of the leases are on major estuaries, such as the Humber, Severn, Wash, Exe and Dyfi, with those on the Humber and Severn being for the duration of 15 years.
Nick Powell, chairman of Dyfi , Mawddach & District Wildfowlers’ Association, told Shooting Times: “Over the past two years, the club has amalgamated with two other local wildfowling clubs and secured new shooting areas. BASC’s expertise in dealing with the complexities of taking over the management of sporting rights and associated consents has ensured a smooth transition, so that regulated wildfowling has continued on all sites during this period.”
New consents and leases have been agreed on the Humber and Caernarfon Bay, which has increased wildfowling land by 155 acres, while Poole harbour, in Dorset, now has a 20-year lease.
