Compressor for air guns – what are the best options?
ShootingUK17 September 2021
Recently, our airgun expert Mat Manning received the following question from an airgunner which got us thinking about the best options when it comes to compressors for air guns. Airgun compressors are the most practical way of making sure an airgun stays full of air, particularly if you live somewhere fairly remote without a bottle filling service.
The airgunner, wondering about refill options, wrote: “I want to buy a PCP airgun, but I’m concerned about keeping it filled. Most people seem to use a diving bottle, but they are expensive and, even if I invested in one, there is nowhere close to my home that offers a bottle-filling service. Are there any other options?” (Read our tips on charging a PCP air rifle with a cylinder.)
The best option is a compressor for air guns. But depending on whether you want to spend or a lot or a little, whether you’re looking for something quite industrial or just something more simplistic, affordable, but that can still get the job done, these are our top picks for the best compressor for air guns on the market right now.
+ Reduced working noise
+ Low pressure safety valve can relieve pressure tank
+ Practical wrench position
+ Water-resistant cover
+ Very reliable
With a machine plate made of thick metal plastic, this item is very convenient when it comes to reducing working noise. But it’s also very convenient and high performance, with it being battery power operated, enjoying a prolonged service life thanks to the low pressure safety valve and designed with two-stage compression and two water-oil separators for performance stability.
+ Quick filling
+ Safety guaranteed
+ Stable performance
+ Easy to use
+ Versatile
This model is safety guaranteed and versatile, and with stable performance, this model is the perfect companion if you’re fairly new to airgunning and you’re looking to pick something that can be up and ready with minimal work. And with an automatic shutdown function and overload protection, this would make for the ideal entry-level compressor for someone who wants to make a bigger investment.
With a compacted and confined space design, strong security and reliability, as well as low noise, speed and vibration, this compressor is perfect for people who want to be able to fill up their airgun from a variety of different locations with minimal fuss.
For those of you who don’t want to have to deal with or carry around a heavy piece of kit, then this hand pump could be the perfect alternative. It’s far cheaper than its rivals, and even though, as you would expect, it comes with far fewer functions and isn’t quite as high performance, when compared to the price of the other compressors on this list it can still get the job done.
+ Adjustable pressure
+ Quick fill
+ Long-lasting
+ Cylinder head won’t overheat
It’s understandable that if you’re looking to buy a compressor of the kind seen in this list, and you’re ready to lay out quite a large amount of money, you’ll be looking for something that can give you years and years of use. This is the model that does just that. While you’ll get more than one airgun in your time, you’ll only ever need this compressor.
