Gundog training: Test & Trials: I am new to gundog competitions; how can I find out more about the rules of field trials?
GUNDOG TRAINING: TESTS & TRIALS
Paul Rawlings
Firstly, you can obtain a copy of the current Field Trial Regulations booklet from the Kennel Club (KC).
As you become more involved with the sport through competing, stewarding, spectating and talking to your peers, the application of these regulations will gradually become clearer.
However, to speed up the process, you might consider attending one of the excellent seminars held across the UK for each of the four sub-groups by KC-approved presenters.
These are primarily aimed at judges of the sport, but will also give a great insight into the rules for competitors.
Details can be found on the KC website, www.thekennelclub.org.uk
