Scientists from the EU?s Invasive Species Specialist Group have demanded new European-wide laws be put in place by next year to tackle problems caused by invasive species. The group?s chair, Piero Genovesi, singled out the grey squirrel as being a particular threat to biodiversity. Invasive, non-native plants and animals cause 12billion Euros of damage in Europe each year.
