Find out more. The UK’s fieldsports organisations have renewed their calls for shooters to respond to the EU firearms consultation. There are concerns that the consultation could be used to gain legitimacy from public opinion to restrict further the legal acquisition and possession of sporting firearms.
BASC told Shooting Times that the server hosting the questionnaire had crashed. However, it has now been fixed.
Dr Conor O’Gorman, policy development manager at BASC, said: “The server hosting the questionnaire crashed the day after BASC sent out an action alert email to members. More than 20,000 people have completed the questionnaire so far. Let’s make sure the majority are saying ‘no’ to unnecessary EU regulation of firearms ownership. Each completed questionnaire adds to our voice. Visit the BASC website or Facebook pages for details.”
