In addition to his gold medal-winning performance in the men’s Double Trap at the London 2012 Olympics earlier last year, Peter, from Dorset, also broke the world record in his discipline at a World Cup event in Arizona, shooting 198 out of a possible 200 targets.
Ian, from Gloucestershire, has coached the GB shooting team at the past six Olympic games.
On hearing the news of his honour, he said: “I have been so lucky to have built a business out of my hobby and my passion, and this award is the icing on the cake this year.”
“To see Peter win gold, to have been a part of the Great Britain team for so many years as head coach coupled with Richard Faulds’s win at the 2000 Sydney Olympics — I feel a very lucky man.”
“The MBE is so special to me,” he added, “but it is also so very special for shooting in general. I have always been and will continue to be proud of my sport, a fantastic sport for all.”
