The competition, held at the Mid Wales Shooting Centre welcomed competitors from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Matthew was announced as the Junior Runner Up of all five competing countries.
The next day he competed in the British Open with this score being combined with his previous Home International score – resulting in Matthew receiving the title of England Junior High Gun over the two days and was awarded the Neil Fowler Cup.
Continuing his winning streak, Matthew next attended the European Championships, also held in the Mid Wales Shooting Centre, over two days.
As part of the England Junior Team, Matthew and his teammates won the Junior Category and received Gold medals.
Matthew then furthered his medal accumulation, after receiving a Bronze medal for Individual Junior.
The World Championships followed, in which Matthew competed as a member of the England Junior Team.
This was held in the Mid Wales Shooting Centre over three days, with England finishing joint Third.
Unfortunately a final medal was missed out upon following the countback, which involved the addition of the scores of the highest two shooters within each team.
The team to lose the least point was awarded the winner, and so Ireland?s Junior Team pipped the English Team to the post.
Dr Charles Lee, who runs the Felsted School Shooting Team said: ?This is a great achievement by Matt. Over the years many Felsted pupils have gained international honours, but Matt is the first pupil to be selected for this particular discipline. We hope other pupils will be inspired by his success.?
Matthew is now ranked 11th of 85 Juniors Worldwide.
