The Greater Exmoor Shoot Association (GESA) has joined Aim to Sustain Game Assurance Scheme, with 20 of its members now part of the initiative.
Aim to Sustain provides extensive advice and support to assist shoots and game farms in preparing for assessment, and achieving accreditation through an independent and qualified audit. The scheme also provides a robust defence against any accusations of misconduct, malicious or otherwise.
Gareth Clark, chairman of GESA, said: “We understand the need to work together to improve our standards of practice along with valuable data collection. Both areas are crucial to highlight all the hard work and commitment undertaken by owners, managers and gamekeepers in our sector. Doing nothing is not an option.”
Spike Butcher, operations director at Aim to Sustain, added: “The leadership shown by GESA should give others the confidence to make this important step and help to protect the future of shooting by proving what high standards they deliver.”
GESA received a 20% fee reduction as it joined the scheme with 20 members or more. Other discounts are available for smaller groups. Find out more about Aim to Sustain in Shooting Times on 28 August.
