Joint Master of the hunt Adam Waugh presented a cheque to shoot owner David Stratton as a formal recognition of the support that the local shoots provide the hunt.

He said: “Both the hunting and the shooting communities believe it is absolutely vital for all field sports to work together.”

Delly Everard, regional director for the Countryside Alliance, said: “Whilst everyone is aware that hunting has been the victim of one unjustified piece of legislation, this Government has introduced 29 laws restricting shooting sports in England and Wales.

“All country sports are currently facing threats and I am so grateful to the South & West Wilts Hunt that, in their own period of dark times, they are demonstrating support for other country sports.”
