What do you do to fill your time with when you’re not ferreting during the summer months?
FERRETING
Edward Cook
Winter and spring is our busiest time of year because we are ferreting during the day and mopping up the stragglers under a lamp at night.
The hours are long and hard. However, things slow down a little in April and we then spend time setting and checking drop boxes as well as snaring etc.
The rabbit fencing side of my business is always busy. We do still go ferreting in the summer but on a smaller scale, mainly to keep the dog’s fit and to work on their obedience.
It’s also very important to keep the ferrets in shape, and a bit of gentle work helps achieve this.
On top of this all the equipment from nets to the quad bike needs to be repaired or maintained.
Thankfully my rabbit clearance business has grown over the years but it does mean that I get very little free time.
