Nur Ayuni Farhana Abdul Halim, who won gold in the 10m air rifle pais in New Delhi for Malaysia, has been ruled out of the 2014 Commonwealth Games after her luggage went missing and her competition jacket was lost.
“She was a gold medallist last time and now she won’t even get a chance to compete,” said team manager Musa Omar. “It is really painful for her. I just feel so sorry for her.”
“The rules clearly state that a rifle shooter must wear a jacket,” Musa explained
“We tried to borrow one but it did not fit her. We tried to make a new one but she said that she would need two months to get used to it.”
Malaysia’s government has launched an appeal to Commonwealth Games organisers to have her reinstated in the competition.
