Tindall, Haskell and Payne to host British Shooting Show main stage

Mike Tindall, James Haskell and Alex Payne, the trio behind the podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, will host the main stage at the British Shooting Show on the afternoon of Friday 12 February 2027, the British Shooting Show has announced. The three will also host the Great British Shooting Awards at the NEC Birmingham, the ceremony that last year named a Gamekeeper of the Year and a Professional Deerstalker of the Year among its winners.

What will the Friday afternoon session look like?

According to the show’s announcement, the three will welcome guests onto the main stage for chat show-style interviews, with well-known names from television and the shooting world set to join them. The session takes place on the first day of the show, which runs from 12 – 14 February 2027 at the NEC Birmingham, and the show’s advice to anyone planning their day around it is to arrive at the main stage early to secure a good spot.

For the keeper, the shoot operator or the farmer who shoots, February is the one month of the year the diary allows a day at the show, with the last drives of the season behind them and the release pens still empty. Are the three hosts shooters themselves?

The show is at pains to say the three are not simply famous faces booked for the occasion. All bring genuine shooting credentials, it says, so visitors can expect humour alongside real enthusiasm for the sport that fills the hall around them.

“We all love our shooting, so getting the chance to host the main stage at the British Shooting Show is a real treat,” Mike Tindall said in the announcement. “We’ve got some great guests lined up and, no doubt, James will talk far too much, but that’s what people come for. It’s also a privilege to be hosting the Great British Shooting Awards and celebrating the trade that keeps this sport going.”

Simon K. Barr of Time Well Spent Group, which owns the show, said: “Mike, James and Alex are a perfect fit for the British Shooting Show. They are brilliant entertainers, but they are also genuine shooters, and that comes across every time they talk about the sport. Their Friday afternoon session is set to be one of the highlights of the show.”

What are the Great British Shooting Awards?

The awards are open to trade only, the announcement says, and the trio will bring the same mix of humour and shooting know-how to the ceremony. The 2026 awards were presented on the Friday of this year’s show, 13 February, across 24 categories decided by a record public vote, and alongside the guns, cartridges and optics they recognised the people of the working countryside: Gamekeeper of the Year, Professional Deerstalker of the Year, Gundog Trainer of the Year and an award for Outstanding Contribution to Conservation. The 2027 winners will be announced on the Friday, hosted by the three.
