Chris Castle, corporate manager at Northolt shooting club AC Sporting Targets, has raised more than £10,000 for Parkinson’s UK by walking Hadrian’s Wall in a full suit of Roman centurion armour.
Chris completed the 84-mile route between 22 and 27 September, walking around eight hours per day in 35kg of armour. “My mother was sadly diagnosed with Parkinsons 10 years ago and is now living with the disease which, at times, can be very hard to watch and for her to deal with,” he said.
“My other reason for walking was to get people talking about the carers and loved ones who also get affected and not spoken about – because sometimes these people need care too.”
Chris, 32, set an initial target of £7,000 but has already raised £10,733. He also received support on his route, ranging from a knee brace to B&B accommodation. However his highlight followed “a slight navigational error” when his four-man team “managed to cram into a small shepherd’s hunt to escape the rain for the night.”
Chris added: “None of this would have been possible without the help of everyone who donated. As I crossed the finish line with a step count for the week of 216,860, it will be something I’ll never forget.”
The use of game cover for shoots has changed drastically in recent years, says Felix Petit, driven by an increase in government grants
By contacting your PCC about your local force’s firearms licensing performance you can help instigate change, says Conor O’Gorman.
