Air rifles have grown in popularity recently. They now make up a substantial share of shooting sales. This has drawn many manufacturers into the market. The PCP sector is particularly crowded. Manufacturers in China and Turkey have made major advances.

Many of these offerings are fantastic value for money. They come with features standard that usually cost much more. However, enthusiasts often pay a premium for refinement. Weihrauch is a brand with a reputation for quality. This reputation was earned over many years. This is what we call pedigree.

New entrants can offer decent performance. They are increasingly snapping at the heels of established players. Yet, loyal fans still return to Weihrauch. The unique feel lures them back.

On test here is the latest Weihrauch HW110T. It features an adjustable laminate stock. This key feature elevates handling to a new level. The action is standard length. It feels pleasingly compact as it stands.

A KT carbine version is also available. That model trims inches off the barrel. However, the shot count will suffer. This test model is compact regardless.

The stunning stock grabs the eye first. There is also a classic air of subtlety. This remains true despite the use of ballistic polymer. This material is common in the firearms industry.

Weihrauch is often seen as a traditional operation. The HW110 introduction may have caused concern initially. However, they need not have worried. It is all about execution. The 110 has carved out a successful niche.

The polymer receiver includes a Picatinny rail. Clamping mounts tight over plastic might worry some. Yet, the material quality is excellent. Reliability is simply not an issue.

Furthermore, the design completely contains the magazine. You do not need to worry about scope height. This is unlike many rival rifles.

The Weihrauch 10 shot magazine is a simple casting. That simplicity promotes reliability in use. Just push pellets flush. It is then ready to go.

Weihrauch has stuck with the same probe system. This is a pleasing decision. The adaptor mounts on a Best Fittings Quick Coupler. Everything snaps into place easily.

A nylon plug protects the inlet valve. Simply remove this plug to insert the probe. Fill the cylinder gently to 200bar. A manometer sits at the front of the cylinder. This position requires careful safety habits. However, it is very easy to read.

The new adjustable laminate furniture is beautiful. It is pleasingly different from the 100 series. Stippling covers both the forend and raked grip. Adjustable elements transform the handling.

You can set the rubber butt pad height. Use the supplied Allen key for this. Then turn your attention to the cheekpiece. A serrated pillar bolt makes this easy.

Use the push button to raise the comb. Simply stop at the desired height. The comb can be raised by 1.8 inches.

Weihrauch silencers have long been the benchmark. This unit remains impressive. It is smart and highly practical. The multi baffle system is matte black. Crucially, it remains astonishingly light.

I removed it to confirm the barrel length. It weighs just 3.5oz. It features a standard UNF thread. You could fit a heavier moderator. However, the standard unit is excellent.

The muzzle crack is considerable without it. This is often the case with PCPs.

The HW110 trigger design is two stage perfection. It is fully adjustable. It is one of the sweetest triggers available.

The action was a mixed experience. Installing the magazine was initially fiddly. It seemingly required three hands. However, practice helped significantly.

Pull the side lever back to cock it. Push up the mag retaining catch. Insert the magazine until the catch drops. Then close the lever.

Cycling the action is smooth. It is efficient and reliable. The rifle has a unique feel. The muzzle report is seriously muted.

Sometimes something just feels right. This model is among the best sporters around. A biathlon style side lever would be nice. Otherwise, the sheer quality is hard to fault. It is a top class hunting machine.

The HW110 looks better value than ever. This follows a price adjustment. It sits well alongside the HW100 range. The HW110T is a versatile addition to the line up.
