Agreement for shotgun shooting at Paralympics

The agreement, signed last week by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), means that test events can now be staged in order to develop shotgun events for disabled shooters.

ISSF secretary general Franz Schreiber said: ?Our Federation supports the idea of launching a project to develop shooting events for disabled athletes.?

?The ISSF and the IPC have been collaborating for years in the field of rifle and pistol competitions, and we are now willing to extend our agreements to shotgun shooting events.?

The ISSF says that the Italian Shotgun Shooting Federation (FITAV) will be given the task of developing the events, based on ISSF shotgun regulations.

Shooting at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, to be staged at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, will involve 12 rifle and pistol medal events, including six mixed events.

Although countries have until just before the Games to make their final selection decisions, Team GB has already been allocated 11 qualification slots.
