Countryside Restoration Trust accuses Government of trashing the countryside
Chairman Robin Page, who is a Shooting Times contributor, has written to Prime Minister David Cameron about building on green belt land, food security and the damage being done to habitat and wildlife species.
Robin said: “The situation is desperate. We see good agricultural land being lost forever. We see our food security compromised as our population rises and huge pressures are being put on our wildlife and ecosystems.”
He added: “The development is being nodded through by local and national politicians who would not be out of place in the North Korean political system.”
CRT director Martin Carter said: “The Cambridgeshire countryside is disappearing as South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council between them assault a once-beautiful, historical city and its attractive setting as they plunder and trash its green belt. It is quite shameful.”
